Description
Spathodea campanulata, commonly known as Nandi Flame, is a medium-sized deciduous tree belonging to the family Bignoniaceae. This tree is characterised by a round, heavy crown of dense, dark foliage that reaches up to 35 meters in height. The young bark is pale with grey-brown smoothness, but as age kicks in, it becomes grey-black and scaly, developing vertical and horizontal cracks. The tree originates from Africa’s tropical dry forests and is popular for its showy orange-red flowers that blossom year-round.
